For its exemplary cooperation under the motto ‘Innovation next door’, the city of Dortmund has been recognised as the European Capital of Innovation (iCapital) in 2021 - the only German city to do so to date.

New format with a traditional basis

The Science Night follows on from the traditional Dortmund Science Day, which has taken place 17 times since 2002, most recently in the ‘Corona Year’ 2021 as a hybrid event with video tours . The new ‘Science Night’ format is intended to appeal to a broad audience and inspire enthusiasm for science, convey scientific topics vividly and arouse curiosity. The Dortmund Foundation is sponsoring the Science Night.
